If this is your first time on Roam Ritual, do not start with the newest page — start with the shape of the map. The site is built in three layers: the long continent guides for planning, shorter destination pages for the days you have already decided, and two reference shelves for the gear and the tools. Read in that order and almost nothing will feel out of place.
The continent guides
Seven long pages —Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania and South America — carry the heavy planning: visas and seasons, the trains versus the buses question, what a day actually costs. Open the one that matches your rough dates, not the one with the best photograph.
Destinations and the city pages
Destinations is the shorter shelf: cities and regions where we have walked enough to write a page — a morning route, the market that locals still use, the hour when the square empties. Use it once the continent is chosen.
Gear and tools
Travel Gear lists what survives our trips after years of use, with the failure stories attached. Travel Tools is the app-and-website shelf: the timetable apps, the fare alerts and the maps that keep working offline. Both pages are updated when something breaks, not when something is released.
A five-minute route
- Pick your continent guide and read the season and budget sections.
- Open Destinations for one or two anchor cities and note the dates.
- Skim Gear once, pack from it later, and check Tools before you install anything for the road.
- Send corrections to the desk — the guides get better from readers faster than from us.
